About Payment Training Scheme

Welcome to the Training Payment Scheme

Direct Debit Service Provided by GoCardless

The training payment scheme is the simple method for our members to attend and pay for training sessions without the need for cash.

It works by creating a direct debit mandate through a payment merchant called GoCardless. All money transfers are handled by GoCardless and all BBD members are protected by the direct debit guarantee.

A small form on our website must also be completed along with the direct debit mandate.

Once the member has successfully joined the scheme we will request first payment of £20.  A membership card will be issued which contains a unique barcode for each individual.

The membership card can now be scanned as you attend any training sessions. The cost of the session will be deducted from your account balance.

When the members balance reaches £6 or lower a further request via direct debit will be made for the value of £20.

Does the scheme cost anything?

No, it will not cost members a thing to be part of the scheme.

GoCardless does charge to use it’s service which is being subsidised by the club.  Current costs is 1% per transaction with a minimum of 20p which is capped at £2.

How do I know my balance?

During the joining process members will have the option of receiving email updates. We will do our best to send out emails containing balance information after training sessions. This does rely on the barcodes being processed directly after training, so there may be occasions when emails are not sent out.

A searchable webpage will also be made available so that members can enter their barcode number on their card. This information is not live and we will attempt to update weekly.

Members can always email the administrator of the scheme for a balance update.

Can I leave the Scheme?

Yes you can leave at anytime, your direct debit can be cancelled via your bank or building society.

If I leave can I get my current balance back?

Yes, the BBD treasurer will send any outstanding balances via BACS. This is an electronic system to make payments directly from one bank account to another.

Can I use my card if training is away from BARC?

Cards can be re-issued at a cost of £1

Can I use my Park Run barcode number as my BBD Training Payment Scheme Number?

I have forgotten to bring my membership card, can I still train ?

Yes, nothing changes from the previous system. Inform the cashier/scanner on arrival.

You will still have the option of paying by cash on these rare occasions.

Can I use my card both for myself and my partner?

No, its strictly one card used to pay for one member.

To keep it simple on our system the scanner will reject double entries.
