There were several suggestions from those who braved the weather conditions last Friday at Wortwell to rename the Summer Sizzler as the ‘Drizzler’. This normally beautiful, gently undulating route was transformed into rather more of a wet and soggy challenge for the 217 runners brave enough to come along and join us.
Despite the wet and windy summer evening weather, feedback from runners and marshals was all very positive with several BBDRC members being pleasantly surprised by some great results and performance times.
Congratulations to all those who took part and thanks to everyone who supported the event by giving up their time to make it all possible. Special thanks go to Jayne and her sister who battled the wind and rain with the BBQ and still managed to get plenty of takers.
The 49 Black Dogs competing made up almost one quarter of the field and picked up more than their fair share of silverware. Dan Gardiner was on the podium in third place overall while Justine Fawcett, Bobbie Sauerzapf, Hugh Roberts, Bob Paul, Darren Goodby, Jon Wiles and Jason Hurst all took home age category trophies. The full results are here.
