Rendlesham Trail Marathon

Stuart Young reports:

Alice and I completed the Alien marathon in Rendlesham Forest. The site of a rather far-fetched story from the cold war era about many strange goings on with sightings of saucer shaped, bright lights and loud noises. No such sights today, just the odd alien or two at each turn. The organisers had set up a great route which comprised four laps around the forest. As you would expect with trail runs, it was testing at times with tree routes posing the biggest challenge. Perfect conditions for a trail run and the medal is awesome.

Hadrian’s Wall family relay

Michelle Lightfoot reports:

My husband Rob, James 17, Matthew 13 and I ran along Hadrian’s Wall as a three day family relay, covering 28 miles a day between us.
We started the 84 mile route at Bowness-on-Solway on the West Coast and finished at Wallsend on the East Coast, outside Newcastle.

Waterlogged fields and standoffs with the local cattle made the trek along a historic Roman wall a unique experience, but with the aid of cake and alcohol it was almost enjoyable.
