Two relatively rarely run race distances and a duathlon were on Bungay Black Dog Running Club’s menu last weekend.

The most popular choice was Wymondham Athletic Club’s 20 miler; an excellent preparation for the forthcoming Marathon season which kicks off in earnest at the Black Dogs’ own classic Bungay Festival of Running on 17 April. It was picked by 10 club members as their race of choice on Sunday (3 April).

The Wymondham event was described as, “A lovely day for a run through some great countryside with its spring flowers, willow catkins, lambs in the fields and skylarks.” The conditions were, “more than a little warm though and the unexpected heat knocked some times.”
The Black Dog results were: 90 Chris Chorley 2.40.07, 134 Bobbie Sauerzapf 2.56.54, 162 David Neeve 3.06.07, 165 Robin Ashe 3.07.21, 178 Tanya Holloway 3.11.38, 185 Amy Godbold 3.14.16, 190 Becky Sturgeon 3.16.13, 191 Stu Lawn 3.16.14, 205 Graham Sampson 3.20.16, 208 Karen Gedge 3.20.51, 218 Mitzy O’Loughlin 3.24.37, 237 Robin Farrar 3.34.52, 265 Larissa Smith 3.59.48, 266 Emma-Jane Cowley 3.59.51, 267 Loretta Thurston 3.59.51, 268 Lucy Johnston 3.59.51, 275 Paul Bird 4.09.20, 279 Bob Jack 4.56.25.

Another nine opted for the Lowestoft Five Mile Promenade Dash billed as “a nippy five miler”. Their results on the flat course were: 14 Ian Taylor 35.55, 20 Joanne Cox 36.30, 35 Mik Carr 39.51, 37 Bob Paul 40.13, 38 Neil Thomas 40.15, 42 Kevin Clark 41.16, 43 Hugh Roberts 41.30, 49 Laura Button 42.08, 73 Jo Clark 49.25.

Finally, Bungay scored three podium finishes at the Tri-Anglia Triathlon club’s Diss Duathlon comprising a 5.1 km run, 30k three-lap cycle and a second 5.1km run. Marcus Sladden took second place overall, Jane Hannah came fourth out of the women and picked up her age group prize and Bridget Shaw also won her age group prize.
