Two relatively local races – Coltishall Jaguars’ annual Mad March Hare 10k and Stowmarket Striders’ half marathon – were last weekend’s main races of choice for Bungay Black Dog Running Club (BBDRC) members.

Coltishall’s 10k is one of the Jaguar’s annual three race series over the distance, the others being the Mike Groves Memorial Run on 5 June and the Jolly Jaguars Race on 25 September.

Black Dog Marcus Sladden finished a commendable second overall in a new personal best time of 35 minutes and three seconds while Phil Henry’s 44.45 also scored him a PB.

The full Black Dog results were: 2 Marcus Sladden 35.03, 70 Phil Henry 44.45, 92 John Wharton 47.05, 98 Richard Dye 47.36, 124 Bobbie Sauerzapf 49.17, 142 Kevin Clark 51.11, 145 Hugh Roberts 51.35, 179 Graham Sampson 55.40, 260 Paul Bird 1:07.52.

The Stowmarket Striders’ half marathon is a Suffolk Grand Prix Qualifying Race, taking in some of the county’s quietest rural country roads through undulating scenic countryside.

A dozen Black Dogs took part, led in by Jon Wiles. The full Black Dog results were: 32 Jon Wiles 1:29:00, 39 Chris Hall 1:31:02, 122 Sabrina Norton 1:43:44, 176 Jane Hannah 1:50:39, 207 Sarah Maidment 1:54:25, 222 Tanya Holloway 1:55:02, 227 Amy Godbold 1:55:30, 255 Joanne Cox 1:59:14, 256 Becky Sturgeon 1:59:15, 270 Bridget Shaw 2:02:15, 389 Bob Jack 2:45:42, 390 Douglas Gladwin 2:45:42.

Further from home, lone Black Dog Ian Taylor ran the Tralee Marathon on quiet country roads amid the scenic beauty of County Kerry, finishing in 4:12:40.
