BFoR – what a day

Pre-Festival set-up
Never has the saying ‘many hands make light work’ been more in evidence than today. Dozens of club members, some with families helping too, turned up to carry out essential duties to get our ground ready for the off on Sunday. BARC looks great this evening and a tribute to all who helped.
Some diehards have been helping with preparations all week when they have been able to but special mention and thanks to Fudge Farrar, who has been at BARC for the last 9 days.   Primarily to provide refreshment and encouragement to Karl Olley on his 10 day marathon challenge, Fudge has used the time in between to do lots of jobs around BARC that didn’t then need doing today.

The day…
What a fabulous day at the Festival of Running! It was our first to be staged on our own ground and it was a credit to all that have worked tirelessly to make it happen. BARC looked glorious today in the sunshine.
As mentioned in the presentations, many thanks must go to Bob Paul, our race director and the race committee. Together they enabled our club to offer the biggest range of distance races to suit all abilities. I had so many people tell me what a great day it was. Our event village was popular with great food, drink, face painting, the ‘sweet’ tombola and post-run massage.
It is so hard to try and list all those who provided help and services, without fear of leaving someone out, so a BIG thank you to everyone for this weekend. We should all be very proud of our club and what we have achieved today.  Happy days!
