Club Captain Calling

I have been pondering what to write since becoming club captain during the strange times with the covid pandemic. For one thing it wasn’t the start I had quite anticipated.
Being captain to me means being a part of the club by supporting, encouraging, listening and training with fellow members but unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control this wasn’t to be.
As club restrictions have lifted slightly over the weeks with the hard work of the committee it has meant we are able to meet up and run together again. I have joined different group runs on a Thursday & this week I joined in a BARC efforts session. It felt strange being back after being away for so long but felt great to be back running on the field (never thought I’d hear myself say that!).
Yesterday I was invited to a ‘notaparkrun’ with club friends Rachel & Tim Hirst and a few other club members (no more than 6). So, being captain had felt detached but now I can start doing my job…
