Juniors News (7th Feb 2021)

Many congratulations to Annabelle Jackson who ran the cooper test and achieved a new personnel best of 2832m. This is an increase in her distance by 200m and is the result of the hard work she has been putting in with her training.

Junior Zoom Fitness Sessions
It was lovely to see the juniors who attended last week’s Junior Zoom Fitness Session. There will be another session this Monday, 8th February 2021. The start time is 18.30hrs for 40 minutes. The session is for all abilities and fun. You will need an area where you can safely lay on the floor and room for your arms legs to be taken to the side. If you have a gym mat have it ready to use, it does not matter if you don’t have one. If you at late in joining the session or get booted out you can ring my mobile 07503 165626 and I will let you join the session.

Training Plans

Here are two training plans that the juniors may like to do in lockdown next week.

Rules – Only train where it is safe. The older juniors must please get permission from a parent to run on the roads and to tell them where you plan to train. An adult is to accompany a younger junior. In the evening wear a fluorescent top with reflective strips. Take a torch not only so you can see where you are going but also so other road users can see you. In dull weather during the day wear a bright top. If you are running on your own please carry an ICE (Ice Cause Emergency) contact number. A recovery day is to be taken between each plan. Finally, as all these juniors know, do a warm up and cool down.

Plan1
Whippets 2x 1min, 2min, 3min, 4min, 3min, 2min, 1min Recovery is half your running time. Dalmatians 2x 1min, 2min, 3min, 2min1min Recovery is half your running time.
Terriers 3 x 30s, 1min, 2 mins 1min, 30s. Repeat. Recovery is half your running time.

Plan 2
Whippets 4x(4x200m set) recovery is 1 minute between 200m and 2 minutes between sets Dalmatians 3x(3x200m set) recovery is 1 minute between 200m and 2 minutes between set Terriers 2x(3x200m set) recovery is 1 minute between 200m and 2 minutes between sets
