Stort 30

Mik Carr and Rachel Hirst report:

Today (Sunday) we travelled to Bishop’s Stortford to run, slide (and for one: swim) 30 miles in a very well organised race. Mik finished in 5:29 & Rachel took it more leisurely, finishing in 6:11. Did we mention the mud? There was lots of mud!

Fun fact: Mik used 5,290 calories while Rachel only used 2,478.

Endurancelife Suffolk marathon

Nicky Thorpe reports:

Yesterday (24 Oct) I and several Black Dogs took part in this event which offered various distances. Having never run a marathon before I decided to give it a go. It started and finished in the historic Greyfriars priory in Dunwich. As a trail marathon the route took us along beautiful river paths, woodland trails, and beach. The weather was blustery making it tough going; apart from wading through flood water and navigating some muddy puddles we all stayed dry. It’s a fantastically organized event with plenty of well stocked aid stations. I completed the 26.83 miles in 4h34m and was thrilled to see so many friendly Black Dogs at the finish having just completed their half marathons – well done ladies. If you’re looking for a challenge, I would definitely recommend giving it a go.
